This time a review of a very popular dram from the Glendronach standard range:
- 21yo Parliament (48%)
Medium impact nose. Dried fruits (raisins, figs), roasted tones (toffee, chocolate). Woody (oak), spice (vanilla, cinnamon). The PX sherry is clearly recognizable. Very appealing nose.
Thick tears, full bodied. Greasy, sweet dried fruits (raisins, figs) followed by spices (some ginger maybe, vanilla). Also some darker/earthy notes (leather, tobacco). Very silky and smooth! High complexity in between the sweet sherry flavours.
Medium to long finish. First some spices then ending medium dry with some clear roasted flavours again (dark chocolade, toffee) and little bit of honey. Really nice finish.
Very good nose followed up by great taste and finish. Casks easily recognizable in taste but also the PX is there in the mouthfeel! Age shows up in the complexity. Amazing expression.
