To extend the reviews of the range of Glendronachs I’ve added the review of the 12yo Original (43%).
Dried fruits (PX sherry comes through), sweet (some honey) with some spices (vanilla, pepper, maybe nutmeg) as well. Little bit one-dimensional but still appealing. Roasted notes (chocolate, caramel) with some hints of orange coming through.
Sweet, nice texture (creamy), dried fruits, spicy notes (nutmeg and some vanilla) in the finish.
Sweet finish with some raisin and caramel in the end. Some minor spicy notes but sweetness rules in the finish. Medium long ending a bit dry. For the age an appealing finish!
Very good dram for a 12yo and good value for money. Nice balance between the sherry sweetness and spice. Typical sherry notes in nose and taste as you can expect from Glendronach.
Lacks some complexity and depth to score even higher but it’s only a 12yo.
Score = 84/100
